I have been drawn to the fixie-single speed concept since I first saw a mug  crushing a big gear out by Cherry Creek Res....we were headed south on Jordan and he would catch and pass me after every light and had a really low cadence... I was working on getting  a really high cadence and I was surprised at his set up....everything else looked like a normal racing bike. So I struck up a conversation with him and got the LOWDOWN!

I guess tho that my love of fixie and Single speed bikes goes back to my first bikes in the mid 70s. they were all fixed at the beginning and then single speeds... I didn't get into a bike with shifting options until my teens....then at the end of my teens I just stopped riding all together!

I got my old Miyata Seven Ten running this year after buying a dumpy mtn bike to just get around the block a few times... ( I am 42 now) put a few hundred miles on the old machine and then went and got a new bike with nice components!  YES....put almost 2000 miles on that ride this summer! a few centuries...a lot of half centuries and regular sessions up and down Lookout Mtn and Red Rocks and High Grade...Devils Gulch! OUCH!!

Well....I got bit by that fixie bug tho....and want to ride thru the hood without putting on my space gear!  I started looking into new custom bikes...and was about to go the Big Shot route...then started seeing a LOT of bikes on Craigslist...but they were mainly way too big...or too expensive or....today I found one that fit me...but really wasn't put together all that well...

So I took the Miyata in to Velowood this morning and they are converting me up and getting her all tricked out! for less than what most of the bikes were listed for on Craigslist! YES!  AND I feel good about keeping my old trusty bike rolling and not just getting rid of her for something fresh and new!

So for now they are setting me up with a flip flop hub...new yellow rims and chain to match my tape and og paint set up...leaving the OG crank on for now...flipping and chopping the og handlebars to make them bully....some new break pulls but not the calipers etc...

I'll get a new seat and put fenders and a rack on it after it starts snowing and I need to use it to get to the store! I am VERY stoked!
