Bike License process Long Beach

Hey everyone.. FGR asked me to post a post about the process of the whole license thing in Long Beach. Pretty stoked how i was messaged by them. Well I live here in Long Beach Ca and the law is required here for bicyclist to have a bike registered under a license with the frames number and such other parts. Without a bike license if your bike is stolen, or if your riding alot without a license is like driving without your license. Just shows your identification of your bike and the owner thats… Continue

It shouldn't be an issue of foot or leg power, it's all about unweighting the rear wheel. I say practice, and try it after it has rained on some lonely carpark. Good luck!

And? How's the skidding going along? Or haven't you had any time to try it?
At 5:00pm on November 19, 2010, Daniel Apt said…
Okay, first of all, you must remove your weight from your rear wheel, one does this by bringing your scrotum to your handlebars. Really do this, you won't fall over your handlebars. Just look at the position of this guy skidding in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t20DAiyl4yg. You want to have that position.

Now about applying pressure, when you skid you want your crank arms to be horizontal. Your stronger leg (for me it's my right leg) is placed at the back, and your weaker leg (my left leg) is placed at the front.

We call the position of your stronger leg (the one in the back) 9 'o clock, and the one in the front 3 'o clock. Already start applying pressure on your pedals before your crank arms reach the 9 and 3 'o clock positions. When your crank arms reacht the 9 and 3 'o clock positions, your rear wheel should stop turning and start to skid. The first time it'll be a very short skid, but with practice you'll be able to skid longer. Try skidding on a smooth surface, like smooth concrete, you could even make it wet to make it easier.

When you've succeeded in skidding (even the smallest one), I'll teach you how to skid more efficiently.

If you have any questions please ask.
