"I would rather buy used shoes then a used saddle, but that's just me. Personally I feel brooks are comfy out of the box, and only get more so. but proper positioning is KEY. it might take 10 test rides to get the position just right"

on the shifter boss issue with the crosscheck (or any other vintage-like frame) - Problem Solvers makes some shift boss covers that look pretty clean - just put mine on my crosscheck frame today,but waiting on the final build of the bike (impatiently). I got my shift boss covers at AEBike (http://aebike.com/page.cfm?pageid=30&action=details&sku=fs0900) - they were kinda slow to ship out, but were otherwise good.

did you find a way to get rid of the shifter bosses on your downtube? they kinda muck up the whole simple and clean look im going for.
