"Beside the fact of having beer keg legs when to much torque is applied to quick release the side of hub that doesnt have chain on sprocket will gradually move forward making rim crooked and will rub on frame and then come disaster"

"very true on your tire tread theory,As far as quick release I can't really give you a answer for everyone but my opinion is I dont really trust them for the tension I produce on my gear ratio and riding style."

"1. no compatibility problems with the crank arms themselves. A French threaded bottom bracket will present problems when you need to replace it. Pretty much nobobdy makes french thread BBs anymore. A vintage oriented bike shop will be your best bet.…"

"old puegeot parts are probably your best bet, french is an ASS to build as your first build. BUT if you keep your stock bottom bracket, and its square tapered on the ends you should have no problems. any ol cheap origin8/tec9 crankset should work.…"
