I'm sure everyone on Fixed Gear Republic has friends that don't ride fixed gear bikes and ask you why you ride with one gear that is fixed. We thought it would be cool to hear the reasons why you ride fixed.

So... why do you ride fixed?

lol i second that
Nothing to adjust (beside the chain, every once in a while). No hassle, its the connection between the bike, me, and the road. Its the challenge aswell of hitting hills with only one gear, weaving inbetween cars and avoiding possible accidents, finding alternative routes...BLISS!
If im gonna ride 20 miles, im gonna pedal 20 miles.

I agree with you I put in a minimum of 250 plus miles a week on a 50/10t ratio riding hill, trails and traffic and it is a certain unity between rider and bike you can't find that can't duplicated with any other set-up. The fact of not using a hand brake and using my legs for speed and slowing makes me in complete control of my bikes.
Nikko
lol there riding mongo
simply, for the feeling of complete control. be one with the bike and the bike is one with you.
One Gear One love.
freewheel are booring
one of my reasons is cuz i control my own speed at my own rate and not the bikes
I ride because it's like running on a bike. Only you make it go faster and only you can slow it down. I love riding all bikes but a fixed gear makes me feel more connected to the bike. The bike and you become one.
i ride fixed because it's low maintenance and more control over your own bike =D
And it's alot of fun!
