I went to the bike shop the other day an was lookin through the selection an noticed a device that was used to put on a table and using a stool to prop your feet, measure what size seat to buy. help anyone?

get a comfy one.

YOU have to sit on it mate!
IF I AM SITTING ON IT THEN WHO GETS TO LOOK UNDER MY BIG ASS TO SEE THE SIZE. I GUESS THE BIKE SHOP GUY. RIGHT ON. ANY SUGESTIONS ON WHO MAKES A GOOD INEXPENSIVE SADDLE.
Brooks makes the most comfortable saddle.
but they aren't cheap.
I was given a second hand Brooks saddle, the first couple rides my butt was so sore, now a few weeks later its the most comfortable saddle I've ridden. A new one will take a while break in, there's lots of second hand ones on ebay.
right on, Thank you.
Might point out that it's your ass that gets broken in, and not the saddle. It's a matter of getting used to the saddle you choose, though choosing the wrong one may mean that you can never get used to it.
as far as seats not braking in ,this is not necessarily true..brooks saddles will brake in and form to your specific ass needs...and they will be super comfy ...the cach is it takes about 600 miles for them to completly brake in and untill this happens it might be one of the most uncomfortable seats around
i have one and i love it but peter was right ,mine was 150 bux and it was one of the chaeper ones.....my friend has a soma seat and it slightly padded and its very nice,,about 40 bux
\wurd
oh yeah and second hand brooks seats are like buying shoes from a thrift store..they are already broken in yes,,but for someone elses paticularly shaped ass hahaha....atleast thats the theory
I would rather buy used shoes then a used saddle, but that's just me.
Personally I feel brooks are comfy out of the box, and only get more so. but proper positioning is KEY. it might take 10 test rides to get the position just right
the new TURBO saddles are an olde favorite. they re-released the design recently.

what is good for one person may suck for another... urinary problems and not being able to have an erection are some of the problems that may come from a saddle that may not fit.

Ask the store if you can test one... (u cant do that with an online store) but of course dont damage it or you will own it even if you hate it.
THANKS EVERYONE.
