after a near accident lastnight, i now believe it is time for a front brake, however my wheels have no braking surface...

so what should i do? just attach the brake and let the pads do the work, or stip the paint? there is a ridge on the rim for a brake, except there is paint there, and they are weinman deep V's,

thanks!

The paint will wear off real quick if you start using your brake more consistantly. If you don't change your riding style and continue to run brakeless than at least it will be there for those emergecy stops, even with paint
buy a new wheel
Ha yeah, buy a new wheel and give your old one to me

i know cuz people with fixies never have mixed mached wheels hahaha

Yeah, I have a brake on my bike. I don't think I've ever used it, but I've had a few close calls with cars pulling out in front of me. You can ALWAYS stop faster. Even if you can stop fast. You can stop faster if you add a brake. Dope.
put the brakes on, when they rubbed abit of paint so you can se where they brake in a line(should mark the paint), get some realy fine grade sand paper and rap around something small, i used the end of a pencil,so the sand paper stays like 1cm wide or less, spun the wheel and wor the paint off in a line where the brake hits then sanded the pads a slite bit(bmxer thing) to get the paint off and get them grippy again

didt want some horrible back rim with flakey paint n black marks all over it, so i tried it, worked for me :)
