How many of you do extended miles on a fixed gear(century or metric century)? And how brutal is it? I have done centuries in the past on a regular road bike and may try a metric century in April on my fixed.

No way would i attempt that distance. My bike is for riding to the shop and back, down the pub.etc Respect to anyone the can crack a ton on a fixie.
would a century be 100km?
Six day riders used to do over a thousand miles.....In six days. Yes it was in a velodrome but by God it was 24 hours a day for 6 days straight with just short breaks. Check your route and work up to it and good luck! Now on your bike!
100km would be classified as a metric century and is approximately 65 miles or less. There is a ride here in Phoenix that I am seriously considering on my fixed gear if I can log the hours before April. I can't even fathom doing 1000 miles in six days. I would think your prostate would fall out.
Last summer I was riding my Swobo Sanchez 30-60 each ride 3-4 times a week. Long rides are not that bad. Just slower if you are used to geared log rides. This summer I want to do a handful of 100 mile rides. A couple things, make sure you have a good saddle. One that is comfortable for you. That doesn't mean a super padded saddle either. One that fits your arse. You local bike shop can help find one that fits. Also, if you are riding a small frame just to do tricks forget about it. Get a frame that fits you. And don't hesitate to stop and stretch your arse when you need it. Just build up to the distance and you will be fine. I enjoy the challenge of doing it all fixed not to mention chasing down the geared riders and passing them. :)
I aplanning to ride to Paris from London soon, although I may get a geared road bike I am also thinking it may be a fixed gear ride...

Its about 250 miles and I palnning to do it in 3 days...
Check out the videos on Vimeo about the two guys who did 1200 miles across Europe fixed. It might give you some inspiration. Search for 'Let It Ride' and you should find their video journal.
my usual rides are about 40 miles, when im riding for fun. i think the most ive done is maybe close to 70, but it gets nasty there at the end. i think long rides are alot easier if you have someone there with you. and those vimeo videos about the two guys are pretty cool, you can go to letitriderideride.com yo check them out.
Wish I would do one of those one day. Currently my setup is for short, up to 1.5 hours rides (short stem) but since I've upgraded to 2 fixies, one designated city bike, I'm upgrading the other to a commuter and plan to take some 100k's with it..
