Can I get a bag?

What kind of bag are you rocking? Messenger? Backpack? Panniers? What do you have? What do you like? What do you want?

Me personally? Dank messenger bag. As good as it gets, made by a messenger for messengers here locally in Seattle. As I am not a messenger this bag works extra well for me as it's got every thing you can ask for. Cordura, VCP, super paddy strap, d-ring release, hoops & straps, and very difficult to come by which always adds that cool factor.

I've got a few, all Chrome. One is big and orange from my Kozmo days (it actually belongs to someone else). I also have a Citizen that is semi-retired. Newest is a Chrome Ivan backpack which is comfortable and waterproof (great for my laptop) and has plenty of room for other gear but isn't too big.

How much was the Chrome Ivan backpack? I like the idea of carrying my laptop around. Right now I just have a big Dakine bag, it's nice, but just too bulky to ride with...

The Ivan was about $160, ordered thru Counterbalance here in Seattle. It's a great bag but keeps my back a bit warm. A thousand times more comfortable than the Citizen bag with a laptop in it.

I use a Seal Line backpack, and LOVE IT! I live in Portland, and it is super lightweight and waterproof. I carried at least twenty pounds all over town in it yesterday.

I used to carry Timbuk2 all the time. I've had about 3 of them and liked their construction and waterproofness. Then I heard that the cool kids don't carry Timbuk2 any more. Would sort of like to know why. Is it because, while they're designed by bike messengers in SF, they're actually sewn in China?

I carry a Tom Bihn now that I got used from a friend in Alaska, and it's made in Seattle. But I'm curious if Timbuk2 is no longer cool just because it's gotten huge.

I'm rocking a chrome citizen, bright orange and I love it. Comfy and water proof, looks awesome too. I hear good things about the chrome backpacks though.

A Medium Chrome bag that is beaut the fuck up, but buckle works.

i use an old clive backpack that i got in seventh grade (about five years ago) and ive added some of my own custom spray paint which adds to the whole sweetness factor. it has great padding and comfortable shoulder straps. it also has plenty of room for all my school books, laptop, and anything else you could imagine. however i dont think clive is still in business so i would look on ebay.

For a long time I used a std. Timbuktu bag. It started to get a bit beat and I was also looking for more space. I did a lot of research looking at the usual suspects, PAC Designs (I probably would have gone with them, but I wanted to go all custom and it would have cost a mint...next bag), Chrome, etc. I eventually settled on the Chrome Kremlin for features vs. price/value reasons. It's been great so far, believe it when they say it's HUGE. AT times I wish I may have gone the step down in size as it is a monster, but there's times when I'm glad to have the space. I'm still getting used to the straps as they fit me a bit different than the Timbuktu - I think I would have prefered a little more adjustability in the strap systems. Otherwise a great bag.

Manhattan Portage Messenger Bag, grey canvas exterior and yellow rubberized interior.
I love how it has pockets inside and out all over the place, and it's also quite large. The strap has been comfortable and strong enough, though it's been worn away by a toothy buckle, and it's in the process of unweaving. It'd be sweet if it had that quick-adjust extra buckle setup that I see on fancy/handmade bags, or a car seat buckle. Maybe that's the next change to make.

One of the shipping/receiving guys at a pickup had once been a messenger, and noted that it was 'more big' than the bag I was wearing, and gave it to me (made my day). I'd love one of those drybag roll-top style backpacks more, but it's been great. If it gets too big/heavy I have a rack I can strap it to as a trunk bag. It'd be nice to get those Soma grocery-bag folding panniers.

I've got old panniers and an old backpack too, but they're barely worth noticing and offer less secure/waterproof/convenient ways to carry more, and with extra care they fulfill all the same functions, and keep the weight lower on the bike.

I also have a Timbuk2. They are still cool but just not as elitist as they used to be. Kinda how Nalgenes used to be really cool until everyone got one. Then it was Siggs. Now Klean Kanteens are the cool water bottle of choice. That is just my 2 cents though.
